Variable Frequency Drive/ AC drive

A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), also known as an AC drive or adjustable speed drive, is an electronic controller that manages an AC electric motor's speed and torque by varying the frequency and voltage of the electrical power supplied to it, leading to significant energy savings, smoother operation, enhanced process control, and extended equipment life in applications from HVAC to manufacturing. VFDs work by converting incoming AC power to DC, then inverting it back to variable AC, allowing precise matching of motor speed to operational demands, unlike traditional methods that run motors at full speed.
